Our Story
Over 15 years of specialist tree care across Brighton, Hove and the wider Sussex countryside. An enthusiastic, fully qualified crew committed to the preservation, maintenance and protection of trees — one climb at a time.

Who We Are
Branchwalkers began as a small, passionate team in Hove and has grown into one of the South Coast's most trusted arboricultural companies. Today we operate across both sectors — careful, local garden work for homeowners, and large-scale vegetation management for utility and rail contractors across the country.
The founding principle hasn't changed: every project — from a single overhanging branch to a hundred-tree site clearance — starts the same way, on site, face-to-face, with an honest assessment and a fair quote. The crews have grown, the kit's got newer, the compliance paperwork's got thicker. The standards haven't moved.
We climb more than we cut. We survey before we quote. We do the council paperwork so you don't have to. And when we leave a site, you'll struggle to tell we were there — except the trees look better than they did when we arrived.
How We Work
The standards we measure ourselves against — from the first phone call to the last leaf cleared.
We'd rather save a tree than fell one. Every consultation starts with what's best for the tree's long-term health — removal is always the last option, never the default.
Every climb, every cut. NPTC-qualified surgeons, current kit, BS:3998 methods, and risk assessments on every site — whether it's a back garden or a rail embankment.
Free, no-obligation site visits. Clear breakdowns. No hidden fees. If it's not worth doing, we'll tell you. If a neighbour could split the cost, we'll suggest it.
Sites finished cleaner than we found them — every chipping cleared, every lawn raked. Our reputation rides on what you see after we've packed up.
Who we work for
Branchwalkers jobs run across the full range of arboriculture — what changes is the compliance paperwork and the kit, not the craft. Same climbers, same BS:3998 methods, same accountability whether it's a single back-garden call-out or a multi-year rail-corridor contract.
Single-job domestic work across the BN postcodes — crown reduction, hedge cuts, stump grinding, storm-damage callouts. The bread and butter, and the work that makes the reputation.
Larger rural plots, woodland management, veteran-tree care, hedge restoration across estate boundaries. We survey annually and programme work to the season.
BS5837 surveys for planning applications, TPO agency work, Conservation Area notices, felling licences. Part of our regular workload, not a specialism on the side.
Office compounds, retail sites, schools, hotels, residential blocks. Boundary hedges, specimen trees, routine inspections — delivered within operating hours and without disruption.
DNO-authorised vegetation management on 11kV to 400kV overhead-line corridors — survey, landowner coordination, clearance, close-out packs.
Assessment, monitoring and safe removal of declining ash — the single biggest driver of tree work across Sussex right now, handled with honest advice and the right method for brittle timber.
