Safety first

Assess first.
Cut second.

Every Branchwalkers job starts on site, face-to-face, with an honest read of what the tree actually needs. We work to the work-at-height hierarchy of risk — from the ground where we can, platform or rope where we can't — a culture that starts with the survey and ends with the site raked clean.

01

Tree-first thinking

Removal is the last option, never the default. If a tree can be saved with reduction, thinning, or pollarding, that's the route we'll recommend — even when it's more work for us. Sussex canopy deserves keeping.

02

Right method, rigged always

Ground, platform, or rope — the access method follows the risk assessment, not habit. And when work happens at height it's rigged: friction devices, controlled lowering — not throwing lumps from a height. It's why nothing below the canopy gets broken.

03

Council paperwork included

Tree has a TPO? Property in a Conservation Area? Needs a felling licence? We handle the application, write the justification, and correspond with the tree officer. You get told when a decision comes through — you don't touch the council inbox.

04

Sussex species, Sussex knowledge

Fifteen years working the local canopy — ancient oaks, the seafront elms of the National Elm Collection, conservation-area limes, the veteran pollards on the marshes and the downs. Each species wants a different hand. We know which.

05

48-hour quote turnaround

Every enquiry gets a prompt reply. Every quote follows within 48 hours. Every price is written, clear, and comes with a breakdown you can actually compare against others.

06

Domestic & commercial, one crew

Careful back-garden pruning in Hove on Tuesday, DNO line-clearance for UK Power Networks on Wednesday. Same standards, same insurance, same people — scaled to whatever the job is.

Removed a sycamore tree which was too close to the house.

Davey made quick work of removing the tree being very careful not to damage fencing or other plants. I was surprised how quickly the large trunk was sawn up and removed. Then the sawdust was blown into one pile to make it easy to pick up. Very pleased.

Removal of tree stumps

Excellent professional job. Branchwalkers removed some very difficult tree stumps sunk into a shingled front garden. It was very close to the house and so a high risk of damage to the front wall and window. The work was so carefully done that afterwards it seemed as if the stumps had simply vanished. All trace removed, everything left tidy and wall completely unmarked - Thank you Branchwalkers

Before you call

Questions we hear often.

The things most customers want to know before picking up the phone. Not covered? Call 0800 567 7433 — we're happy to get into detail.

What areas of Sussex do you cover?

Brighton, Hove, Lewes, Ringmer, Seaford, Shoreham, Henfield, Worthing, Hassocks, Burgess Hill and all surrounding BN postcodes as our core domestic and commercial patch. For utility and rail vegetation-management contracts we travel nationally across the south of England and beyond.

How quickly can you reply to a quote request?

Within 48 hours, Monday to Friday — often sooner. For emergency or storm-damage callouts we try to get someone on site the same day or the next working day where possible.

Do you charge for site visits and quotes?

No. Site visits and written quotes are free and carry no obligation. We'd rather walk a site and price it accurately than quote blind over the phone.

Are you fully qualified and insured?

Yes. Every tree surgeon on the crew is NPTC-qualified to the relevant industry standards. We carry £10m public liability insurance, hold Safe Contractor approval, and work to BS:3998 on every job.

Can you handle the council paperwork for TPO'd or Conservation Area trees?

Yes — we act as your agent for Tree Preservation Order applications, Conservation Area notices, and Forestry Commission felling licences. The council correspondence stays with us; you get told when a decision comes through.

Do you work on protected trees?

Routinely. Protected trees and Conservation Area work are part of the regular workload. We're familiar with the paperwork, the local authority processes, and the conditions usually attached to consents.

What happens to the wood and waste from a job?

All arisings are chipped and recycled for biomass — nothing to landfill that doesn't need to be. If you want usable timber left as firewood, say so at quote stage and we'll stack it for you.

Do you take on small jobs as well as large ones?

Yes. A single overhanging branch on a terraced house is as welcome as a multi-day clearance on a ten-acre plot. Same crew, same care, same standards — sized to the job.
